Sophie Song, CPA, MST
Sophie Song is a Tax Manager at Liptz & Associates, Inc. (located in Newport Beach, CA and in the Dallas, TX area). She has over 11 years of experience in tax planning and compliance services for high-net-worth clients including their closely held and family-owned businesses. She is also expanding her expertise into the Captive Insurance Industry. Sophie earned a Master of Science in Taxation from Golden Gate University and graduated from the Master’s Program with Honors.
Sophie has an unusual educational background for a tax professional. As a youngster, Sophie aspired to become a University Professor. She graduated summa cum laude from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, in Seoul, South Korea, with a BA in French Studies. Due to her outstanding academic and extracurricular activities, Sophie was accepted to the Sciences Po de Paris (2nd in the world in Political Science and International Studies in the 2020QS Rankings) where she obtained her BA and DEA (equivalent of 1st year in doctoral program) in International Relations. She also studied law at University of Paris II Pantheon-Assas (Ranked as #1 in Law Schools in France).
Sophie’s interdisciplinary educational and cultural background coupled with her knowledge in taxation has provided her the opportunities to think out of box and bring ideas and solutions to her firm and clients beyond the financial aspects. Her flexibility allows Sophie to convey complex tax compliance and planning strategies to both clients with little or no accounting background as well as to top management, and tailor services specific needs for her clients. She has been a daily mentor to younger staff and new hires as she wants to help them reach their life goals through their success and growth in their careers.
Sophie is a mother of two beautiful children as well as an active member of Sa-Rang Community Church in Anaheim, CA. For several years, she served as fundraiser and coordinator for Kingdom Dream Scholarship Foundation, treasurer for Missions, and mentor for Career/Mentorship programs. She is currently serving as member of the Audit Committee and Holy Wave Choir and recently served as panelist for her church tax seminars and classes.
