Dennis specializes in defending clients in the areas of products liability, including medical device and pharmaceuticals, and in all types of general and complex litigation.  He is chair of the firm’s medical device and pharmaceutical industry practice group and chair of the firm’s Chemical Law and Proposition 65 group where he also counsels and defends clients in California’s Proposition 65 right-to-know toxic chemical warnings law, as well as state, national and international chemical law and regulation compliance laws generally.  Dennis has over 20 years of extensive litigation experience, is a passionate oral advocate for his clients, and has tried cases to verdict, achieving great results for a variety of clients, from small and emerging companies to those in the Fortune 500.

In his Proposition 65 practice Dennis regularly advises clients on minimizing the risk of getting ensnared in litigation, including recommendations relating to best practices on supplier indemnity and testing of products ingredients and packaging.  He also represents large clients in significant bet-the-company Prop 65 litigation in court.  His diverse pharmaceutical and medical device products liability experience has involved representing clients who manufacture and distribute products that include implantable and prescription medical devices, prescription and over-the-counter pharmaceuticals, biologics, baby and toddler formula, nutritional supplements and food products, durable medical equipment, heavy equipment, automobiles, personal care goods and cosmetics, pet care products, household goods and sporting goods.

Dennis has been both a speaker and an author of numerous articles in his fields of practice.  He launched and oversees Buchalter’s chemical law blog and regularly writes on new developments in these areas, including in Proposition 65, green chemistry regulations, the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act and the Toxic Substances Control Act.  In the area of medical and pharmaceutical products, Dennis has presented and written on topics that have included the impact of FDA regulation of nutritional supplements and best practices in complying with FDA guidance governing device and pharmaceutical companies’ social media policies and scientific information exchange.  He has been featured in a variety of national and industry publications, including Bloomberg, Food and Safety Magazine and the Daily Journal.

Dennis is a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC) and the Los Angeles LGBT Bar Association.
