A Meeting of the Minds Will Discuss the Regional Real Estate Market and Widely Impacting Changes from Class Action Lawsuits

A group of notable professionals from the Greater Philadelphia Metropolitan area, who collectively touch every aspect of the real estate industry, will meet for a symposium on key topics impacting the market, Thursday, February 22, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. to noon, at the Mummer’s Museum, 1100 S. 2nd Street.

Economist Kevin Gillen, Ph.D., of Drexel University’s Lindy Institute will deliver a keynote update on the housing market in the Greater Philadelphia Metropolitan area, followed by a panel discussion with the region’s most informed experts [in alphabetical order]: Joseph Bograd, REMAX Real Estate Team Leader and Broker in Montgomery and Bucks counties; Lida L. Bonner, Esq., Broker, Attorney, and Co-Founder of PAX Legal, LLC; Scott Einbinder, Real Estate Motivational Speaker and Strategist; S. Dave Hudson, President, Philadelphia Metropolitan Board of Realtist; Mike McCann, Legacy Agent, and Keller Williams #1 Team Leader; and, Rachel Street, President of Hestia Construction, LLC, Realtor, Contractor, and host of the television show Philly Revival.

The distinct environment currently facing real estate agents nationwide— particularly an estimated 35,140 registered in PA alone (according to the National Association of Realtors)— as well as home buyers and sellers, became the impetus for developing The Philadelphia Real Estate Symposium 2024.

“There is a perfect storm occurring in the market with unprecedented low property inventories, high-interest mortgage rates, and a series of game-changing, class action lawsuits taking place across the country that will impact brokers, agents, and especially first-time and/or young buyers who will be particularly challenged to afford homeownership,” Patrick Lopez, host of The Real Estate Show podcast, said. Lopez will co-moderate the Symposium and panel discussion with Josh Butcher, co-founder of Wolf of Broad Street and Real Producers magazine.

“The subject of the class action lawsuits against realtor associations is being discussed around the country as brokers await settlements and appeals to determine their new paths forward concerning contracts and commissions, the legality of listing services, etc.,” Lida Bonner, Co-Founder of PAX Legal, LLC, said. “These lawsuits will undoubtedly give rise to similar suits against private and smaller brokerage agencies. As such, real estate attorneys may benefit from attending this Symposium as discussions will likely touch upon precedents being established, the impact on PAR forms, and more.”

An opportunity for audience questions with Bonner and co-panelists, Gillen, and the moderators will immediately follow the panel discussion.

The Symposium is open to all realtors and the public based on seating availability. Tickets are $20 per person and include light refreshments; $10 from every ticket purchased will be donated to The Bethesda Project serving Philadelphia’s homeless population.
