Director Operations
Location: S/he will be based at the company headquarters located in Mountain View, California, USA.

Director Operations Overview of Responsibilities
The company has been a leader in Innovation in Location Technology from its very inception and continues the tradition as evidenced by over 90 patents to its name to date. The company is looking for an Individual to maintain that leadership and help the company to grow into a leader in the area of location-based analytics. To keep Polaris competitive, the Director Operations will ensure that the Operations department is managed in the most efficient manner possible to deliver on customer commitments expediently, with high quality. The Director of Operations will be responsible for the following:
- Manage all global deployments (Greenfield and upgrades) for the Polaris solutions.
- Manage global customer support for all product lines.
- Manage MOP development and testing for hardware and software upgrades/retrofits.
- Manage OPS lab assets in Mountain View to test software and hardware upgrade MOPs and to provide support for field issues.
- Work with the Managed Services team located remotely, to drive the customer ticket resolution to meet the respective customer SLA’s.
- Define and implement operational processes to ensure repeatability and scalability.
- Define and implement KPIs for project management, deployments, and customer support.
- Drive and maintain a world-class Operations organization; motivate and encourage excellence within the organization.
- Build a scalable Operations organization through network of partners – globally.
- Develop deployment plans and manage schedules and project budgets.
- Maintain and assure a high-level accuracy of the deployed solutions through RF related and core network related activities.
- Develop cross-company processes and deploy best practices to increase productivity and reduce efforts and operations expenses.
- Manage partners and vendors to ensure highest quality and competitive pricing work throughout all the deployments and activities.
- Negotiate contracts, scope of work and pricing and coordinate activities across all partners.
- Conduct training sessions for Partners and Customers on a regular basis.
- Manage all aspects of operations procurement and purchasing activities:
- Obtaining vendor quotations
- Competitive vendor analysis
- Work with finance and management to issue purchase orders
- Hardware lead times and shipment tracking
- Manage software licenses for third party software for all deployed systems.
- Renew service contracts, warranty, and licenses for deployed customer systems.
- Manage all aspects of shipping and receiving logistics.
- Define and document procurement and purchasing process.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- The Director of Operations must be with a strong background in Wireless Telecom and direct management of customer projects. S/he must possess excellent project management and communication skills with experience in working with C level executives, both internally and externally. S/he must have management experience in selecting, developing, and leading a team of technical and operations staff to manage customer operations, supply chain and vendor management.
Education:
- BS or MS Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- MBA degree a plus
- PMP certification or formal project management education.
Experience:
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience in Operations, Deployment and Customer Support with Wireless Telecom Operators
- International experience working with Wireless Telecom Operators is highly desired
- Minimum of 8 years managing medium size Operations or Support organization (10- 20 technical employees)
- Proven success leading deployment projects for mobile operators
- Demonstrated ability to lead direct reports and dotted reported individuals as a cohesive motivated team
- Experience in negotiating and managing Vendors and Partners
- Thorough understanding of the mobile operators’ networks (2G, 3G, and LTE) including network nodes and interfaces
- LBS related call flows understanding is a plus
