Employee Resource Groups: missions and purposes

Many larger organizations support Employee Resource Groups (sometimes called affinity or community groups) that create networks based on aspects of identity (for example, a Black employees group or a Pride group for LGBTQ+ employees). For some, this is a place to connect and create community, for others it is also a platform to reach back into the organization to educate and connect across differences. What experiences have you had with these groups as members or how have you benefited from their activities?
