Mike Chen, CPA has experience spanning more than a decade in both public and private accounting. Mr. Chen is the Partner-in-Charge of the Business Advisory, Accounting & Auditing Department. Mr. Chen concentrates in the following practice areas: Accounting & Auditing, Business Advisory and Consulting.
Mr. Chen's public accounting experience includes auditing, accounting and consulting for emerging to middle market companies. His industry experience includes franchisor & franchisee, non-profit and religious organizations, retail, entertainment, financial services, franchisor & franchisee, high technology, hospitality, jewelry, manufacturing, private equity, wholesale/distributor.
Prior to the merger with Leslie, Wallace & Associates, LLP, Mr. Chen served as a partner of CV Zinman, LLP. His career includes significant experience working on audits, outsourced accounting, business management, consulting and taxes for small to medium sized businesses, non-profit & religious organizations and high net worth individuals & their families.
Mr. Chen began his public accounting career as an auditor and advisor in the Assurance & Internal Audit practices of CohnReznick, LLP, a top 10 national firm. He worked on public and private company audits, internal control reviews, employee benefit plan audits, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, and forensic accounting and has extensive experience in accounting and compliance audits. Mr. Chen’s prior work experience includes a Controller for a middle market jewelry manufacture/wholesale company and a contract compliance auditor at an industry leading profit recovery firm; where he worked on numerous compliance audits for Fortune 500 companies.
A graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), Mr. Chen earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Cognitive Science and a specialization in Accounting.
Mr. Chen is active in the community and currently spends many pro bono hours working with non-profit organization within his community. Prior to that he served as a Vice Chair of Finance for Los Angeles Junior Chamber of Commerce Membership organization (LAJCC) and as the Vice President of Finance for The Maple Counseling Center. Mr. Chen completed the Riordan Leadership Institute (RLI) where he added to his skill-sets to serve in the governance of not-for-profit organizations.
Mr. Chen is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and California Society of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Chen is also a Finalist in the Los Angeles Business Journal 2014 Nonprofit & Corporate Citizen’s Award for In-Kind Supporter of the Year.
