Event Summary:

Employers nationwide are facing allegations of whistleblowing or retaliation on an increasing basis and under a myriad of theories available under state and federal law. The increase in these claims reflect that employees have come to understand that even informal or seemingly mundane workplace complaints can provide an avenue to challenge an employer’s disciplinary decision. To reduce the risk of a successful claim, employers should be mindful of when an employee is engaged in protected conduct. Employers also need to be strategic about how they document their decision making and anticipate the possibility of a dispute. Obviously, the answer to these concerns cannot be that the employer never disciplines an employee. During this webinar, participants will learn about:

• Applicable whistleblower and anti-retaliation laws and what they protect

• Strategies employers can use to effectively prepare for possible retaliation complaints

• Proactive measures employers can take to avoid employee complaints of retaliation or whistleblowing
