Co-Founder & Executive Vice President, CGIS, LLC
As a principal member, Kristen is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the brokerage, overseeing client relations, human resources, accounting, and business development. She also serves as an Account Executive, managing the insurance programs for many of CGIS' key clients.
Kristen began her career in 1998, as a claims assistant for construction risks. She quickly transitioned into a claims management position for a regional broker, servicing a diverse portfolio of risks including energy companies, hospitality, contractors, architects, medical malpractice.
Her affinity toward client relations led to a senior account manager position for the owner/founder of a large independent brokerage in Orange County. It was in this role that Kristen developed a new skillset in program negotiation, account management and coverage analysis.
Over the last 15 years, Kristen has refined her insurance and market knowledge within the upstream energy and mining sectors. This knowledge, coupled with an extensive technical understanding of operational risks, are the result of a deep-rooted passion for client advocacy.
More recently, Kristen donates a significant amount of time liaising between California oil producers and State lawmakers. A recently approved Senate bill contains new and challenging insurance requirements for California’s oil industry, threatening the financial security of many independent producers. Kristen educated senior underwriting executives at several insurance carriers, which facilitated a formal objection to this legislation by the American Insurance Association.
Kristen received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Japanese Studies and General Science from the University of California, San Diego. She holds a Certified Insurance Counselor designation, and was recently appointed to the Board of Directors for the California Independent Petroleum Association. In 2016, the association selected her as a recipient of the Lee McFarland Award for her many years of service.
In her spare time, she fundraised and completed a marathon for the Leukemia Society, and the Avon 39-mile walk to end breast cancer. Most recently, Kristen served on the steering committee for the Kern Energy Festival, an event dedicated to raising funds toward scholarships for Kern County youth.
Kristen is a native to Southern California, and the proud mother of twins, 9 year old daughters Katherine and Madeline.
