Gray Williams

Gray Williams is an accomplished Senior Executive, Entrepreneur, Consultant, and Advisory Board Member with more than 40 years of success in the consumer electronics, telecom/ datacom, semiconductor, aerospace, green energy/power, and medical instrument hardware and software industries.

Leveraging extensive experience in global supply chain operations, Gray is a valuable asset for start-up to mid-sized companies that are seeking expert assistance with crisis/ turnaround management, ERP implementation, IT security, interim C-level leadership, and Board representation. Gray’s broad areas of expertise include sales and operations planning, supply chain design and optimization, contract manufacturing and international logistics – along with interim COO management and C-Level mentorship.

Throughout his executive career, Gray has held leadership positions at Oclaro (Lumentum), Logitech, 3Com/US Robotics, AMD, NEC Electronics, Motorola, and Hewlett-Packard. Currently Gray is President of Productivity Specialists where he provides product management, operations and supply chain consulting that helps his clients realign supply chain networks with product operations to maximize revenue and reduce costs.

Previously, as Executive Vice President of Supply Chain Operations & Quality at Oclaro, Inc., Gray was responsible for the worldwide Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality at this $450M+ Tier-1 producer of high tech optical network systems and photonic components for the global telecom/datacom markets. During this time, Gray very successfully handled three major crisis events - the April 2011 earthquake/tsunami in Japan, the Sept-Nov 2011 flood of contract manufacturer’s Bangkok factory in Thailand, and a March 2012 precedent-setting labor strike in Shenzhen.

As the Vice President Worldwide Supply Chain at Logitech, Gray revitalized the $2.5B company’s failing global supply chain function. He was responsible for installing and implementing a comprehensive Total Supply Chain Management System in 90 days that resulted in a savings of
more than $275M over eight years.

From 2000 to 2003, Gray served as the Vice President of Supply Chain Operations at 3Com where he drove the total supply chain costs to 40% below best-in-class benchmarks and increased inventory turns by more than 50%. While directing the Manufacturing Programs Management Group, Gray co-led a successful 3Com $75M SAP implementation and also drove inventory down $400M over four quarters while supporting 15% sales growth, in an otherwise flat market.

Gray served as Lead Advisor for Sun Nuclear Corporation’s Advisory Board and is currently an active member of the Advisory Board for Ioterra.

Gray served for eight years as a member of the Executive Advisory Board for the University of Wisconsin’s Grainger Center for Supply Chain Management. He has been certified in production and inventory management (CPIM) with APICS and has also been a certified purchasing manager (C.P.M.) with the Institute for Supply Management.

Gray is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University – where he earned his BSIM in Industrial Management.
