Ed Earl is an experienced project manager for clients building custom homes or performing luxury remodels. He manages all phases of the construction project and provides the homeowner with guidance and advice along the way. With an MBA from Stanford University and over 30 years of experience in construction, Ed skillfully manages the entire construction process, collaboratively interfacing between the homeowner, builder, architect, interior designer and all other parties involved in any luxury construction project.
Ed brings homeowners peace of mind and confidence that their construction project will be managed effectively and efficiently. His involvement ensures that quality, cost and schedule objectives will all be met. Priority One Projects utilizes a state-of-the-art, cloud-based management system to enable homeowners to access current building plans, up-to-date construction schedules, budgets, progress photos and correspondence throughout the construction cycle.
With the complexity of today’s homes, sophisticated homeowners recognize that an expert project manager - as much as a skillful architect or talented builder - is a critical component for success and homeowner happiness. Ed works with homeowners who have busy professional and personal lives and need an experienced professional to buffer their involvement from the minutia of the construction process. Ed often works with homeowners who are building vacation or second homes (and are therefore not local) to handle in-person meetings and site visits.
Ed has represented owners on a wide variety of construction projects ranging from a 27,000sf estate home, to a safari camp rebuild in Africa, to the restoration of a historical residence in Carmel By the Sea. Ed has earned the nickname ‘The Zen Builder’ as a 20-year practitioner of Zen Buddhism and the project manager for the construction of a nunnery complex at Deer Park Monastery in San Diego which incorporated sustainable design and green building techniques. Ed is a nationally recognized speaker who gives presentations on reducing conflict in the residential construction industry. Ed is also a business coach working with residential contractors, helping them improve interactions with homeowners and reduce drama with their clients.
Ed has a passion for helping former foster youth and has mentored many over the past 25 years through local organizations including Promises 2 Kids, Just In Time and Walden Family Services. Ed and his wife Sue are both avid trail runners and hikers. They have two sons, a sophomore at San Diego State University and a Senior at La Jolla Country Day High School.
